Performs EEGs, ambulatory EEGs, telephone transmission EEGs and multiple sleep latency EEGs for all ages of patients. Responsible for recording electrical activity of the patient's brain to study epilepsy, convulsive disorders and localizing lesions in the cerebrum. Performs clerical duties. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality (CQI) improvement activities. Compiles technical and patient information, interviews and instructs patients and their families.
The individual must demonstrate the knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the units policies and procedures and skills check lists.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Completion of educational program for EEG
- Technicians with a minimum of two (2) years as an EEG Technician or the ability to learn and demonstrate competency after successful completion of a training program.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages helpful
- Basic computer knowledge. Ability to monitor, interpret EEG Wave patterns
